Rays of Hope is a linked charity of Leeds Hospitals Charity which raises funds to support research into cancer conditions of the liver. During the last twenty years, many patients, relatives, friends and other contributors have kindly donated money. Well in excess of £5 million has been raised during this period.

It costs about £10,000 to fund a research fellow to undertake research in a laboratory per year. Most of our research fellows are junior surgeons working towards a Doctorate of Medicine (MD) or a Doctorate of Philosophy (PhD) who tend to spend two-three years in full time research.

Approximately seven research fellows are in post at any one time and produce several national and international publications per year. Donations make a significant difference to the research programme and all contributions are gratefully received.
