Every year, Leeds Hospitals Charity supports Leeds Teaching Hospitals with funding for their Chief Nurse Education Fund. This helps nurses, midwives and allied health professionals get help with the cost of training and qualifications. Joanne, a Play Leader on ward 42 at Leeds Children’s Hospital, was recently awarded a grant from the Chief Nurse Education Fund to support her in completing a foundation degree. The degree will help her become a qualified play specialist, hopefully by August 2021. “I have been a play leader for the Trust for over 14 years. I work alone as a play leader on the children's surgical ward and felt the time was right to get the play specialist qualification to improve the service I provide to my patients. I am very grateful for the funding I’ve received which will help to pay for this qualification.” - Joanne Philips
