The 7 Locks Walk route runs from Kirkstall Forge to Granary Wharfe

Join us with your family and friends for the 7 Locks Walk where we invite you to celebrate life, whether it is lives lost, people who have supported you within your own life or the NHS who take care of lives.

This a beautiful 4-mile walk, starting at Kirkstall Forge and ending at Granary Wharf, where we can come together as a community to honour, remember and celebrate.

This event is open to all, including wheelchair users, families and pets.


The 7 Locks Walk is open to all - including children and pets

On the Day:

9:30am Meet at Kirkstall Forge – registration 

Kirkstall Forge are being our wonderful hosts for the day, allowing us free parking and use of their facilities, including the wonderful Butlers Café which will be open on the day.

From 10:30am: Make our way to the canal to start the walk

There is a lift and walkway to cross the railway, and a short path to the canal.

12:30pm onwards: Arrive at Granary Wharf

By purchasing a place in the 7 Locks Walk, you agree to pay a £10 per adult registration fee (under 16s are free) and pledge to raise sponsorship for Leeds Hospitals Charity. There is no minimum fundraising pledge, but we suggest setting a target of £100 per person.

How will my fundraising be used?

You can choose to support Leeds Hospitals Charity in one of two ways:

How much does it cost to take part?

Entry fee for adults is £10 and children under the age of 16 are free

How much sponsorship do I need to raise?

There is no minimum fundraising pledge, but we suggest setting a target of £100 per person.

Do I get a T-shirt to take part in?

Adults who have signed up for this event will receive a free T-shirt to walk in. These will be sent out a few weeks before the walk.

Can I bring my children?

Yes, please register your children when you sign up. Under 16’s are free.

Can I bring my dog?

Yes, well behaved dogs on a short lead are most welcome.

How accessible is the canal path?

The canal path is mainly a wonderful flat surface, however it is a little uneven in parts and there are a couple of hills going up and down the 7 locks you pass. Alternative paths are available in some places that will be indicated on the day.

Is there accessible parking available?

Kirkstall Forge are allowing us free parking on the day. There are over 400 car parking spaces all on the same level that will lead to the event area and to the start of the walk along the canal.

Are there any toilet facilities?

Toilet facilities are available at the start and finish. Butler's Cafe will be open before the walk begins. There are several bars and cafes at the finish point at Granary Wharf with toilet facilities. Unfortunately there are no facilities along the 4-mile route.

How can I return to my car?

Granary Wharf, where the walk finishes, is right next to the south entrance to Leeds Station, where regular trains run to Kirkstall Forge.
