Leeds Hospitals Charity is proud to support Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. The Trust comprises seven hospitals and a dental institute, including Leeds General Infirmary, St James’s University Hospital, Leeds Children’s Hospital and Leeds Cancer Centre. The Role 

A unique opportunity has risen for a passionate and dedicated Fundraising and Engagement Officer to support Leeds Hospitals Charity raise awareness and funding for Leeds Children’s Hospital.  

Leeds Children’s Hospital delivers the best possible clinical outcomes for every child, every time and with a brand new state of the art hospital building on the horizon, this is a very exciting time to take on this role. Reporting to the Events and Community Fundraising Manager, you will be responsible for developing outstanding relationships with Leeds Children’s Hospital staff, patients and families and work with the wider Fundraising Team to grow supporter pipelines. The post holder will devise innovative engagement tools and strategies to raise the profile of Leeds Hospitals Charity within Leeds Children’s Hospital and associated stakeholders with the overall aim to increase funding for Leeds Children’s Hospital. 

 

The Person 

  • Can establish and maintain exceptional relationships with Leeds Children’s Hospital staff, patients and families. 
  • Will be able to establish and implement a Patients and Families Fundraising Group for Leeds Children’s Hospital. 
  • Will work with the wider Fundraising Team at Leeds Hospitals Charity to grow pipelines by converting staff, patients and families into supporters. 
  • Can meet and exceed an agreed annual income, expenditure budget and KPIs reporting progress to your line manager on a monthly basis.  
  • Can develop innovative fundraising campaigns specifically aimed at raising awareness and funds for Leeds Children’s Hospital.  
  • Has the ability to attend clinical meetings to raise awareness of Leeds Hospitals Charity and present on how staff, patients and families can engage in fundraising.  
  • Can produce cases for support, case studies and presentations to be used to raise awareness of Leeds Children’s Hospital externally. 
  • Will regularly engage with and contribute to social media platforms associated with Leeds Children’s Hospital, to grow your network of current and former patients and families. 
  • Can develop a group of volunteers and ambassadors who will attend corporate pitches and community group meetings, to give in depth and engaging talks and presentations about Leeds Children’s Hospital and Leeds Hospitals Charity.  
  • Will support the Capital Appeal Team with the logistics involved in arranging visits to Leeds Children’s Hospital by VIPs and major donors.  

 

You will:  

  • Have previous experience of working in an engagement or fundraising role. 
  • Have in depth knowledge of fundraising principles, methods and procedures including the Code of Fundraising Practice and all relevant legislation. 
  • Have the ability to write compelling cases for support and case studies. 
  • Have exceptional communication skills with the ability to quickly build and maintain rapport with a wide range of stakeholders.  
  • Have exceptional presentation, influencing and negotiation skills. 
  • Have excellent attention to detail.  
  • Be able to digest in-depth clinical knowledge and convert into layman’s terms.   
  • Be able to prioritise, plan and organise workload. 
  • Be able to provide exceptional stewardship to supporters. 
  • Be proficient in Microsoft Office Packages.  
  • Be proficient in the use of social media and database/data recording use.
