I #RunForRob because…

“I want to help people like my dad and their families.”

Jasmine’s dad Derek was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease in November 2021, she told us why this has inspired her to sign up to the Rob Burrow Leeds Marathon.

“When dad was diagnosed with MND it was a real shock to our whole family. Everyone says their Dad is the best, but without offending anyone I have to say, ours really is the best. He is the kindest and most gentle person you will ever meet; he loves fishing, the sea, rugby, and he loved eating out when he was able to.

“I’m pregnant with his first grandchild, and my dad is so excited to meet my little boy when he arrives in September. I wanted to do the marathon so that dad has something else to look forward to after my son is born. I hope that he’ll really enjoy hearing how my training is going and how much we’re raising together each week!

“I feel pretty helpless but hopefully, by taking part in something that will help raise money for patients and their families, I can help other families experiencing the cruel fate of MND.

“I’m hoping to start training in December and plan of videoing parts of it, so I can show them to dad and it feels like he’s there with me, I hope this will raise dad's spirits and help him keep fighting!”
