Following the sad death of Rob Burrow CBE last month, celebrities have donated items for our 'Dare to Dream' online auction, raising funds for the Rob Burrow Centre for Motor Neurone Disease fundraising appeal.

The auction will hopefully raise thousands of pounds, helping us get one step closer to realising our patron Rob Burrow’s dream of a specialist MND centre in Leeds. To reach the £6.8 million fundraising target to build the new centre, we still needs to raise over £500,000, and is encouraging the public to bid in their auction to be in with the chance of winning one of eight prizes on offer.

Prizes have been generously donated by organisations and celebrities including TV’s Lorraine Kelly CBE, Mike Tindall and Dame Kelly Holmes.

There are opportunities to win tickets to England V Finland EUFA Nations League Match at Wembley, the Rugby League Magic Weekend at Elland Road Stadium. There is also signed memorabilia on offer, including a limited-edition England Rugby Union Shirt, signed by the 2003 winning World Cup squad.

Comedian Jon Richardson has donated a Countdown teapot, two tickets to a TV show screening, and the chance to be a guest on his podcast ‘Down the Dog.’ Jon told us why he wanted to support the auction:

"When I was asked to help with fundraising for Rob's MND centre I was terrified I would be asked to run 10 marathons in a week, so I'm obviously delighted to be asked to simply offer up an auction prize while Sir Kev does the proper graft.  We are just at the dawn of Rob's legacy and it's an honour to play even a small role in what will be years and years of life changing work that was enabled by the strength and personality and drive of this incredible man."

Bidders will also have the chance to join Dame Kelly Holmes for a Champagne Afternoon Tea at the Corinthia Hotel in London, enjoy an exclusive Lorraine studio tour and get their hands on the dress Lorraine wore to the Scottish BAFTAs, or win tickets to watch A League of their Own, meeting host Micah Richards after the show.

The auction will run for one week from Thursday 4th July and all profits will go towards our fundraising appeal to build the Rob Burrow Centre for Motor Neurone Disease.

“This auction is a great opportunity for the public to support our appeal, but also be in with the chance of winning one of the fantastic prizes on offer! I would like to say a huge thank you to all of the celebrities and organisations who have generously donated items and experiences for our Dare to Dream auction. Together, we can get even closer to making the Rob Burrow Centre for MND a reality, a place where patients and their families can ‘live in the now’ and receive the best possible care in an environment tailored to their needs.”

Lindsey Burrow, patron of Leeds Hospitals Charity said:

“Rob made a lot of friends and always made an impact on people when he met them. It's amazing that so many of our podcast guests, and other celebrities we've met, have come together to donate these incredible prizes for the MND Centre Appeal.
