Role Details 

The Retail Specialist is the first person our customers meet when they enter the shop. They will guide our customers through the shop, delivering excellent customer service at all times. The Retail Specialist will get involved in all activity including merchandising, serving customers and receiving donations. Proud to represent Leeds Hospitals Charity, this role will help customers and supporters develop lifelong relationships with us. 

 

The Person 

Sales Floor  

  • Can support sales by ensuring that the store is well stocked and merchandised. 
  • Can support the retail offering around recycling and sustainability to attract an engaged and committed supporter base. 
  • Will ensure the store is always kept clean, tidy, accessible and follows government guidelines to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. 
  • Will adhere to and enforce Leeds Hospitals Charity safeguarding policies including the Child Protection Policy. 

 

Sales and Profits  

  • Can manage cash and stock controls within the store. 
  • Will be able to support the Retail Manager by empowering the volunteer team to work with local and national contacts to generate additional income. 
  • Can play a key role in enabling the shop to represent Leeds Hospitals Charity and increase the knowledge of the local community about why we’re here, what we do and the impact we have. 
  • Will be able to source donated stock locally in collaboration with the shop team. 
  • Can follow the stock processing systems (such as pricing, quality standards, consumer safety, stock density and culling stock), including backroom systems and ensure these are adhered to by the volunteer team. 
  • Can ensure that all legal and internal regulations regarding donated stock are adhered to. 
  • Will ensure that feedback, including complaints is responded to within the agreed timeframes. 

 

You will:  

  • Follow procedures for accepting donations, ensuring that gift aid information is gathered accurately.
  • Have a strong drive to achieve results.
  • Have the ability to deliver great customer experiences in any environment and to be invigorated by constant personal interaction. 
  • Have proven merchandising experience.
  • Be able to develop strong interpersonal and relationship building skills.
  • Have experience of working with volunteers. 
  • Have retail Charity experience. 
  • Enjoy working with people and havea friendly and approachable manner.
  • Have excellent communication skills. 
  • Be ableto manage time under conflicting priorities.  
  • Be able todemonstrate resilience to the everyday pressures that come with the role.  
  • Have a high level of motivation, enthusiasm, and a sense of fun. 
  • Be open and adaptable to change and able to support others through it.
