About us Latest News Corporate Partnerships: Summer Update 2026 Welcome to our summer corporate newsletter, looking back at another busy, bright and brilliant few months across Leeds Hospitals Charity. It has certainly been a summer to remember! The temperatures have soared, office fans have been working overtime, and despite all the hope, chanting and tactical advice shouted at TVs across the country, England sadly didn’t quite bring it home. But while football may not have delivered the ending we hoped for, our fantastic corporate partners have absolutely delivered where it matters. This edition celebrates some brilliant partner activity, highlights projects transforming patient care, and shares exciting ways your team can get involved this summer. Our Partner Highlights A huge well done to Answer Digital at the Leeds 10K Anna and Ruaridh were joined by colleagues Jonny and Paul, all lacing up their trainers as part of Answer Digital’s year-long fundraising efforts. Their efforts are a fantastic example of how corporate teams can come together, take on a challenge, and make a real difference for patients, families and staff across our hospitals. We are incredibly proud to be Answer Digital’s Charity of the Year and so grateful for their enthusiasm and support. Ritter Sport brings a little sweetness to the hospital trolleys A big thank you to Amanda York and her team at Ritter Sport for their generous donation of chocolate to support our hospital trolley service. Our trolley volunteers visit wards across Leeds Children’s Hospital, offering free snacks, hot drinks and a friendly face to poorly children, parents and carers. For families spending long days or weeks at a child’s bedside, something as simple as a cup of tea, a snack, or a small treat can make a difficult day feel a little brighter. Ritter Sport’s donation will help bring an extra moment of joy to families when they need it most. Would you like to support our trolley service? We are always looking for partners to get involved with this fantastic project and we are always on the lookout for drinks, snacks, toiletries, and yearly sponsors. Together we can put a smile on the face of patients and help to improve their stay in hospital. Technology transforming care: seeing the da Vinci robot in action In May, members of our team were invited by Nathan Bennett and Jessica Higgins from Intuitive to observe a live Da Vinci robotic surgery. The Da Vinci Surgical System is an incredible example of how technology is transforming patient care. The robot does not operate independently. Instead, it translates the surgeon’s hand movements into smaller, highly precise movements, using tiny instruments and a high-definition 3D view. Watching this work first-hand was a real privilege and showed how advanced equipment, clinical expertise and partnership working can improve outcomes for patients across Leeds. A huge thank you to Nathan, Jessica and all the staff involved in making this visit possible. Annual Lecture: advancing cancer care in Leeds Earlier this month, we hosted Leeds Hospitals Charity’s first Annual Lecture, focused on cancer care here in Leeds. The event brought together leading clinicians, researchers, supporters and people with lived experience of cancer to explore how we can improve outcomes across our city and beyond. It was a powerful reminder of why continued investment in cancer services, research and patient support is so important. This work connects closely with projects such as the Leeds Cancer Appeal and our support for services that help patients feel more like themselves during treatment, including the free wig service at Leeds Cancer Centre. Thanks to charitable funding, we have also been able to support cancer research and innovation, including projects looking at improved pancreatic cancer care through advanced sugar and metabolism monitoring, and the use of artificial intelligence to help identify lung cancers on chest x-rays. We have an opportunity available for corporate partners to sponsor the annual lectures for the next three years. Supporting this event will allow Leeds Hospitals Charity to continue to fund cancer projects which will improve the experience of patients, their families and staff visiting and working at the Leeds Cancer Centre. Events and ways to get involved Leeds Children’s Hospital Charity Ball 2026 Saturday 26th September 2026 We are delighted to invite our corporate supporters to join us for the Leeds Children’s Hospital Charity Ball 2026. Taking place on Saturday 26 September 2026 at Pavilions of Harrogate, this glittering evening will include a champagne reception, delicious dining, entertainment, a silent auction, raffle and special fundraising moments in support of Leeds Children’s Hospital. We have some fantastic sponsorship opportunities available, ranging from headline sponsor to table centres. Every sponsorship package helps to make a real difference for children, families and staff visiting and working at the Leeds Children’s Hospital. Funds raised will support life-changing equipment, enhanced treatment spaces, staff support and comfort for families during some of the most difficult moments of their lives. To attend, sponsor a table, donate an auction or raffle prize, or help promote the Ball, please contact Gail Chapman at [email protected] Great North Run Sunday 13th September 2026 The Great North Run returns this September, bringing thousands of runners together for one of the world’s most iconic half marathons. The 13.1-mile route from Newcastle to South Shields is famous for its atmosphere, cheering crowds and unforgettable sense of occasion. Although our charity places are now sold out, supporters can still join the waiting list or fundraise for Leeds Hospitals Charity if they already have their own place. For corporate partners, this is a great opportunity to support colleagues taking on a personal challenge. You could organise a training run, create a fundraising leaderboard, match fund donations, or host a post-run celebration. If your organisation has colleagues taking part, let us know. We would love to cheer them on. Great North Run 2026 Leeds Abbey Dash 2026 Sunday 29th November 2026 The Leeds Abbey Dash is a brilliant way to end the year on a high and is perfect for corporate teams looking for a fun, accessible running challenge. Taking place on Sunday 29 November 2026, the Abbey Dash is a flat and fast 10K route from Leeds city centre towards Kirkstall Abbey and back. Charity places are available with a £25 registration fee and a £150 minimum fundraising target. If colleagues already have places, they can still fundraise for Leeds Hospitals Charity. Come on and enter a team, sponsor runners, maybe create some friendly competition amongst your colleagues? Get your trainers on and help us make every step count. Leeds Abbey Dash 2026 French Alps Trek 2027 11-16 March 2027 Looking for a challenge that is a little cooler than the summer heatwave? Why not swap office fans for fresh mountain air and take on our French Alps Trek in 2027. Taking place from 11–16 March 2027 in the beautiful Clarée Valley, this snowshoe challenge will see supporters trek through snowy forests, frozen rivers and alpine landscapes while raising vital funds for Leeds Hospitals Charity. This will be a brilliant adventure for corporate teams looking for something different. Your business can sponsor a colleague, enter a team, match fund donations, or make it a bold Charity of the Year challenge? French Alps Trek 2027 Simple summer fundraising ideas that always work Summer is a brilliant time to bring colleagues together and raise money in easy, enjoyable ways. You could organise a picnic, barbecue, bake sale, ice lolly trolley, office quiz, sports day, dress-down Friday, raffle, step challenge, sponsored walk or cycle ride. If your team works hybrid, you could run a virtual challenge, with colleagues logging miles, steps or fundraising totals from wherever they are. These simple ideas work because they are easy to join in with and help create moments of connection. They are also a great way to support your Charity of the Year target or raise funds for a hospital project your team cares about.
