Ruby is a patient with Williams Syndrome and is being treated at Leeds Childrens Hospital

Sixteen-year-old Ruby has a development disorder called Williams Syndrome.

She spends a lot of time at Leeds Children’s Hospital because she’s very susceptible to infections and needs support with multiple issues.

Ruby’s mum, Danielle, says, “The Play Team support us in happy times and very challenging times, and have actually become really close to our family in a non-medical way.

Ruby particularly likes having her nails and make-up done by the team. So, although she should have been celebrating her 16th birthday with friends, she had a great time with the Play Team in hospital, because they threw her a pink-themed pamper party to celebrate.”

Because of Play...

Thanks to your donations, the Play Team are available seven days a week across Leeds Children’s Hospital.

Our Play Leaders and Play Specialists do an incredible job, supporting seriously ill children throughout the most difficult time of their young lives.

But this can only continue with your support. It costs £106 a day to fund a play team member.

Together, we can deliver play to every child in hospital who needs it.
