A family foundation has made a heartfelt donation to Leeds Hospitals Charity to support the work of Neuro Critical Care at Leeds Teaching Hospitals in memory of their late son, Toby.

The Tobias Crowther Foundation was created in Toby’s memory after the 18 year-old tragically passed away in a car crash in 2023. It raises funds to support the work of several charities, including Leeds Hospitals Charity, in recognition of the care that Toby received before he died.

A donation of over £11,000 has enabled the purchase of two specialist chairs that will support patients with life-threatening neurological conditions.

Toby’s parents, Adele and Glenn, said: “We are incredibly proud to present these chairs to the hospital team that provided such wonderful care to Toby before he sadly lost his brave fight. It’s a small token of our gratitude for the love and kindness that was shown not only to Toby, but to our entire family, at such a difficult time. We will always be grateful.”

Laura Sedgley, Matron in Neuro Critical Care, said: “We are overwhelmed by the generosity of Toby’s family. These chairs will enable our therapists to offer highly specialised seating to the most dependent patients.  This supports the ethos of early rehabilitation after brain injury, which makes a real difference to patient outcomes. We are delighted to work with Toby’s family to honour his memory.”

On behalf of Leeds Hospitals Charity, we would like to say a huge thank you to Adele, Glenn, and everyone at the Tobias Crowther Foundation for their remarkable kindness.
