On Thursday 3rd July, Leeds Hospitals Charity welcomed the people of Guiseley to its brand-new charity shop in the community. The new store opens its doors, less than two months after the charity opened it’s Horsforth charity shop.

The charity now has four charity shops across the region, with two other stores inside the Merrion Centre and Crossgates Shopping Centre.

The store which is located on the main high street, will be open 7-days a week, thanks to the support of dedicated volunteers. It will sell a wide range of items, from pre-loved fashion, homeware items, to bric-a-brac and more.

All funds raised from items donated to, and sold at the shop will help Leeds Hospitals Charity fund projects across Leeds Teaching Hospitals that support over one million patients treated every year.

Jake Hornsbury, Director of Retail at Leeds Hospitals Charity said:

“We’re excited to continue to expand our charity shops across the region with the ethos of doing good and delivering a fantastic shopping experience, whilst making sure our customers can still find a bargain.

“Our Guiseley shop is a wonderful opportunity for us to raise awareness of the work Leeds Hospitals Charity does in the community, and helps us follow our mantra of doing good, together. The shop will help us provide even more money to support our hospitals in Leeds, reduce waste by offering a real alternative to fast fashion, and creating opportunities to volunteer, helping our local communities thrive.

“We’re looking forward to welcoming the people of Guiseley to our shop!”

Leeds Hospitals Charity provides over £6 million a year in additional funds to support Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. The existing charity shops help the charity contribute even more money to fund things like, life-saving equipment, research into rare diseases and home comforts.

The charity is encouraging people in the local area to donate their unwanted goods to the charity shop and also offers a free home collection service for bigger items like furniture.

Volunteers are a key part of keeping the charity shop up and running, and the charity is actively recruiting new volunteers to join the team.
