Have an idea to improve patient care in Leeds? Test a new piece of equipment? Trial a new technology? Support staff health and wellbeing?

Made possible by a generous gift left to the Charity in a Will, we are providing £100,000 of funding to pump prime innovation projects. Funding is open to ALL staff across Leeds Teaching Hospitals Trust, regardless of role or department.

We’re interested in receiving applications of between £75-£10,000 that relate to a new way of doing something in Leeds, this might be a quality improvement project or service development, a new technology, equipment, or drug. Proposals that have the potential for wider implementation across several specialties and/or patient groups are welcomed.

Examples of recent innovation projects include:

  • an app to support trainee therapists
  • wearable technology for use in pre-assessment
  • the development of a podcast for new parents and carers
  • 3D scanners and printers
  • RFID tags to locate equipment
  • VR headsets to distract children and young people in painful procedures
  • simulation equipment for training and development
