Someone came to my house today - was this you?

We are using professional fundraising agencies: The Fundraising Partnership,   SEC Fundraising Ltd and Family First Professionals to help raise vital funds for Leeds Hospitals Charity, both residential (door-to door) and at private sites (supermarkets and GPs).

We use agencies to help promote our weekly lottery and to engage new supporters and ask them to support Leeds Hospitals Charity.

Our fundraisers will wear branded Leeds Hospitals Charity jackets and will have official ID cards that will carry the name of the agency that they work for. They will also have iPads to sign people up electronically. All personal details are securely held and cannot be accessed by the individual fundraiser.

Our fundraisers work across the following areas: Leeds, Wakefield, Huddersfield, Bradford, York and Harrogate. For up to date locations visit The Leeds Hospitals Charity website here.

How does the lottery work?

Each player makes an advance payment for a unique number that is then entered into the weekly draw.

Winners are selected by random number generator draw software and each number has an equal chance of winning a prize.

Each weekly lottery entry costs £2.00. You pay by Direct Debit at £8.67 per month per entry, which covers entry for the full year. Once you have signed up you will receive a welcome letter with your  unique lottery number, and the date of your entry into the draw.

Your unique number is also used in the weekly rollover draw. If it is selected by the random number generator draw software, you win the amount that is in the rollover prize pot at that time. If no winner is selected the prize pot continues to roll over by £500 each week until its won or reaches £25,000.

Read our Terms and Conditions.

How many entries can I have each week?

The maximum number of entries you can purchase as a single-draw entrant is 50.

The maximum number of entries you can purchase if you are a regular direct debit entrant is five.

Any request to exceed these numbers is at the discretion of the Lottery Manager and will be subject to a customer interaction. For more information, see our Terms & Conditions.

Can I choose my own lottery number/s?

No. Your unique lottery number/s are chosen randomly and will be your number/s for the duration of your membership of our lottery. When you sign up the lottery, you will be sent confirmation of your unique lottery game numbers in your welcome letter.

Can I Gift Aid my lottery payments?

No, unfortunately we cannot claim Gift Aid on funds raised through lottery entries.

Is there a delay between signing up entry into the draw?

If you are purchasing a single-play lottery ticket for a one-off draw, you have until 23:59 the night before the draw to be entered. If you sign up after that, you will be entered into the next draw.

If you are setting up a Direct Debit as a regular player, we are legally required to provide you with a 10-day cooling off period to allow you to change your mind if you wish.

Once this 10-day period has passed, your Direct Debit will be deducted at the earliest date possible – this date will be outlined in your welcome letter.

I already have a Direct Debit with Leeds Hospitals Charity– can I use that to play the lottery?

No, this is not possible, you will need to set up another Direct Debit for lottery payments.

This means that if you want to cancel the lottery at any time this does not affect your current Direct Debit with Leeds Hospitals Charity.

I want to make some changes to the Direct Debit details (bank account details/payment schedule etc) for both lottery and donation – am I able to do this?

No, this is not possible, you will need to set up another Direct Debit for lottery payments.

This means that if you want to cancel the lottery at any time this does not affect your current Direct Debit with Leeds Hospitals Charity.

How much money does the lottery raise for charity?

The profits from all our lotteries are paid directly to Leeds Hospitals Charity after we have deduced the lottery running costs and the prizes.

A minimum of 20% goes to Leeds Hospitals Charity. This is used to help fund the things that make a real difference to patients and their families, and help to enhance the care the NHS already provides.

This includes life-saving equipment, treatments and research into rare diseases, and helps to bring hope, happiness and home comforts to every bedside.

Over time and with the increase in the number of ticket sales, the proceeds to the charity will increase.

Is the Charity and the lottery regulated?
