Adam is one of our most dedicated volunteers and gives up his time to support us through several different roles at Leeds Hospitals Charity.

Throughout the pandemic, Adam has supported our local NHS hospitals as a Donations Volunteer Responder and Covid Responder, and has recently begun volunteering in our Crossgates charity shop.

We asked Adam why he chose to volunteer with us, he said:

“I volunteer for Leeds Hospitals Charity because it is such a great cause, to help the hospitals. Especially during these particularly difficult times, I wanted to give something back. All the roles I do are completely different and offer a bit of variety – keeping me on my toes!”

Adam really enjoys interacting with customers in our shop, who often have their own personal connection to the hospitals. He’s also seen first-hand what donations have meant to staff during the pandemic and what it means for patients to see a friendly face when family are unable to visit.

“As a Donations Volunteer Responder I help to distribute donations to staff around the hospital, they are always so grateful for whatever goodies we are able to give them. Being a Covid Responder is hard but rewarding. You are a connection for patients in the hospitals who can’t receive visitors, they are always so pleased to see you – whether you are delivering belongings to them or taking them a card.”

Adam’s dedication to supporting his local NHS hospitals doesn’t stop there, as well as giving up so much of his time to volunteer, Adam is taking on his first ever triathlon for Leeds Hospitals Charity this June!

He said, “I’m doing this to get more people to donate to our hospitals. I’m so excited to do it as part of a team and having the Leeds Hospitals Charity staff team’s support has been great throughout the process!”
