Leeds-based Lowell Group, a European leader in credit management, has helped raise an amazing £24,946 through this year’s ‘Laugh in the Face of Cancer’ comedy event, raising funds for Leeds Hospitals Charity.

The latest contribution means that Lowell Group's total charitable donations have now surpassed £500,000 for the charity.

The event, which took place at Leeds City Varieties, featured a stellar line-up with some of the UK’s top comedians on the bill, including Seann Walsh and Carl Hutchinson.  

 Over the last nine years, Lowell colleague Elizabeth Long, along with her husband Jordan, have organised the event to raise funds for Leeds Hospitals Charity after Elizabeth’s sister was diagnosed with cancerJohn Pears, Lowell UK CEO, said: “I am incredibly proud of our colleagues for collectively raising over £500k for such a meaningful cause. Elizabeth and Jordan Long deserve special recognition for their outstanding efforts in organising such a fantastic event year in year out! It’s always great to hear first-hand the positive impact that funds raised through events like Laugh in the Face of Cancer have on supporting the community where our colleagues live and work.”

 Esther Wakeman, CEO of Leeds Hospitals Charity said: “It’s fantastic to hear that Laugh in the Face of Cancer has reached this astronomical fundraising milestone of half a million pounds. All of us at Leeds Hospitals Charity are so grateful to Elizabeth, Jordan, and everyone at Lowell for their dedication and support over the past nine years. This wonderful annual comedy night has helped us fund innovative new equipment, world-leading research, and improvements to the hospital environment. The money raised through this year’s event will enable us to continue investing in projects above and beyond what the NHS can provide that will make a real difference to patients and families at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.”
