Welcome to our quarterly update

Welcome to our latest corporate newsletter, looking back at what has been happening with our fantastic partners during the first three months of 2026. From new Charity of the Year partnerships and workplace events to exciting projects for patients and families, your support continues to make a real difference across Leeds Teaching Hospitals.

Here are a just some of the highlights from a busy and inspiring few months:

Our Partner Highlights

Kicking off 2026 with Border to Coast

One of our highlights from the start of 2026 was joining Border to Coast at their Spring Town Hall. Kevin McKenna and Lubke Marsden from the amazing Leeds Children’s Hospital play team introduced Leeds Hospitals Charity and the role of a play worker to over 150 employees. This was the official launch of the charity partnership, and it showcased how their fundraising efforts will help young patients and families at Leeds Children’s Hospital.

A huge thank you to Victoria and everyone at Border to Coast for such a warm welcome. It was a real privilege to meet so many people who are ready to get involved and make a difference.

New Year, New Partners

We are delighted to welcome several new organisations into our corporate family this year. Thank you for choosing Leeds Hospitals Charity, we are so grateful for your time, energy and enthusiasm.

Anna and Hannah and their wonderful colleagues from Answer Digital, are fundraising for Leeds Children’s Hospital. They are very focussed on supporting projects that brighten the experience for children and families during their hospital stay.

Buxton Coates Solicitors are focusing their fundraising primarily on children’s services, and we are excited to work with Rachel and her fantastic colleagues to support young patients and the teams caring for them.

Intuitive are real innovators and their Da Vinci robots enables minimally invasive surgery through high-definition 3D visualisation and wristed instruments. We are working closely with Nathan and Jess, to help fund projects that will improve the experience of patients coming for surgeries at the NHS hospitals across Leeds.

New projects and appeals

Health and Wellbeing Trolleys

This spring we’re expanding our Health and Wellbeing Trolleys, giving patients practical items and small comforts that can make a difficult day easier alongside NHS care.

We’re launching three new trolleys to reach more people across our sites: Gledhow Wing to support postnatal recovery, Beckett Wing for patients with diabetes who may stay longer, and Chapel Allerton to help older adult inpatients feel more settled.

We’re calling on our wonderful partners like you to help to grow this project so more patients and families feel supported, cared for and comforted throughout their hospital stay.

Leeds Cancer Appeal

On World Cancer Day, we launched our £1 million Leeds Cancer Appeal to transform care at Leeds Cancer Centre.

With almost 1 in 2 people in the UK affected by cancer, your organisation can help us expand Surface Guided Radiotherapy (SGRT) and introduce MapRT planning software.

SGRT uses 3D camera technology to improve positioning accuracy, comfort and safety during treatment, while MapRT enables highly precise planning and will be first in the UK at Leeds. Together, they can make radiotherapy kinder, introducing open face masks and avoiding permanent tattoos.

Please partner with us to help raise £1 million so more patients benefit.

From our stories: the difference your support makes

Because of Play

Across Leeds Children’s Hospital, the Play Team are there seven days a week to help children feel calmer, braver and more in control during frightening or painful moments.

Play specialists prepare children for procedures, reduce anxiety through distraction, and helps bring comfort and confidence to children and families during some of the hardest days of their lives

It costs £106 to fund a play team member for a day, If your organisation would like to support the Play Team through fundraising or a workplace campaign, we’d love to chat about how you can get involved.

Summer football fundraising (and the classics that always work):

Wallcharts at the ready: It's the World Cup!

The World Cup kicks off on 11th June 2026, and this is a wonderful opportunity to raise some additional funds that can go towards your target.

A sweepstake is always a winner, and a “wear a football shirt to work” day is an easy way to get everyone involved. You could also run an office penalty shootout, a table football tournament, or a simple “guess the score” donations jar.

Organise a world cup quiz during the competition and maybe sample some foods and delicacies from the countries taking part. How about a taco-tastic Friday when Mexico play, and keep the ‘FUN’ in fundraising.

Simple fundraising ideas that work all year

A quick reminder that the simple things really do work. Bake sales, raffles, quizzes, dress-down days, step challenges and sponsored walks are tried-and-tested ways for teams to raise funds together, and they can be easy to run in any workplace!

Get Involved: Diary dates & awareness days:

Looking ahead this summer, there are plenty of ways for corporates to get involved through fundraising, awareness days and team activities, including:

International Nurses Day (12th May)

Did you know a nurse working at one of our amazing NHS hospitals in Leeds will walk an average of 14,000 steps a day? Support our hardworking staff and set up a challenge with your colleagues to see who can walk this amount every day for a week. Your fantastic donations help to celebrate and thank our nursing colleagues, for the care they provide every day.

National Cancer Survivor’s Day (7th June)

One in two people experience cancer. Here in Leeds, we have the incredible Leeds Cancer Centre which has helped many people from Leeds and further afield to beat this terrible disease.

World Blood Donor Day

A great time to encourage teams to give blood (where eligible) and run a workplace fundraiser celebrating donors.
