On World Cancer Day, we spoke to Susan Short, Professor of Clinical Oncology about cancer research priorities in Leeds over the next three years and how funding from Leeds Hospitals Charity has supported research, technology developments in radiotherapy, clinical studies, bereavement counselling and quality of life support for patients.

World Cancer Day is an international day marked on 4th February to raise awareness of cancer and to encourage prevention, detection, and treatment.

The Leeds Cancer Centre is more than just a hospital for Leeds. Leeds Cancer Centre is one of the largest comprehensive cancer centres in the country, caring for patients across Yorkshire, offering specialist cancer service and world-leading research, while also providing emotional, physical and psychological support for patients and their loved ones.

Around 250 people a week come to our hospitals to be given a diagnosis of cancer, the teams do everything they can to support every patient and their families during this incredibly difficult time.
