Understanding how patients feel about their scar placement after breast surgery

A2003197, A2003579

This study is for patients who are planned to have lumpectomy (Breast-conserving surgery) for breast cancer. Lumpectomy involves removing the cancer with a rim of healthy surrounding breast tissue. Based on several factors such as cancer location and size, skin quality, breast shape, and any underlying medical conditions, the procedure can be done with various scar patterns.

This study aims to see how different scar patterns for lumpectomy are perceived from the patient’s point of view and evaluate how different scar patterns impact appearance, physical function/pain, quality of life and patient satisfaction.
