The BONES study has received £200,000 of funding from Leeds Hospitals Charity.

This study is looking at the bone health of teenagers and young adults with leukaemia. It is a national study, recruiting patients from 3 major teaching hospitals in the UK, including Leeds Teaching Hospitals.

The study has recruited the target number of patients, and will follow up with them over several years to understand how bone health is affected by leukaemia and the treatment.

The aim is to use the information from this study develop targeted therapies to improve the bone health of this patient population, as it is recognised that they can have significant complications, often resulting in joint replacement.

Research at Leeds Teaching Hospitals is leading medical research throughout Yorkshire, the UK and the world.

With your support we can do even more to help patients and their families, giving them hope for the future.

A gift in your Will will fund the research that can help discover better treatments, better care and, ultimately, cures.
