Jack was four years old when his parents found out that he has muscular dystrophy – a muscle wasting disease with a life expectancy of just 25.

Jack now comes to Leeds Children’s Hospital every three months as part of a dedicated research trial into his condition. His mum Claire has to navigate his wheelchair to the third floor and wait for hours in a tiny waiting room while he undergoes treatment and tests. The facility is in a busy corridor, alongside adult wards and is far from child-friendly.

Staff at Leeds Children’s Hospital will dedicate their life to finding a cure for children like Jack. Putting research at the heart of our new children’s hospital will make finding lifesaving cures possible.

“We live in hope that the team at Leeds learn how to slow his disease down and ultimately find a cure.”
