We were interested in receiving applications that related to a new way of doing something with the potential to enhance the patient experience or patient outcomes. Proposals with the potential for wider implementation across several specialties, CSUs and/or patient groups were welcomed. We prioritised projects that seek to tackle and reduce health inequalities and we were particularly interested in projects that focus on reducing inequalities in the following areas: Women’s health Children Cancer Older people End of life care Mental health Cardiovascular Transplantation Overview: We received 15 applications for the Q1 Innovation in Healthcare Funding Call In June 2024 9 applications were approved by Small Grants Panel totaling £49,901.05 with the potential to impact directly and indirectly 10,060 beneficiaries including patients, families and staff. The funding awarded support three out of the six funding priorities: Health and Wellbeing, Research and Innovation and Equipment . The projects align with seven different impact areas of focus: Health Inequalities - End of Life Care, Care of Older People, Paediatric Care, Cancer Care, Women’s Health, Mental Health, and Treatment of Rare Conditions. All projects approved as part of the Q1 Innovation in Healthcare Funding Call will be complete by October 2025 3 applications were subsequently withdrawn after approval. 15 applications received across 11 Clinical Service Units Approved Applications: Equipment Using a secure file-sharing platform (vCreate) to improve accessibility to the Regional Cleft Lip and Palate Service Acquiring online platform V-Create. Awarded: £6,551.05CSU: Neurosciences Funding to set up Steriwave nasal photodisinfection Providing consumables to support nasal disinfection. Awarded: £3,700.00CSU: Neurosciences Kinematic assessment of hand function in Multiple Sclerosis Providing IT Hardware for testing in clinical spaces.
