We were interested in receiving applications for equipment that: Enabled Leeds Teaching Hospitals to be at the forefront of timely and innovative patient care and treatment through earlier diagnosis and / or improved treatments. Enabled Leeds Teaching Hospitals to deliver on its priorities of Timeliness and Care. Helped Leeds Teaching Hospitals to maintain or gain regional or national profile and or centre of excellence status in a particular specialty or discipline. The funding opportunity was open to all staff at Leeds Teaching Hospitals across all Clinical Service Units and Departments within both medical and non-medical roles, including staff employed by academic partners who hold an honorary contract with Leeds Teaching Hospitals. Overview: We received 23 EOIs across 8 Clinical Service Units for the Q3 Equipment to Deliver Clinical Excellence Funding Call. We invited 12 of these applicants to make full applications for the Q3 Equipment to Deliver Clinical Excellence Funding Call. We received 11 full applications received across 5 Clinical Service Units In February 2025 a total of 10 applications were approved by the Funding Committee totaling £321,671.82 with the potential to impact directly and indirectly 37,640 beneficiaries including patients, families and staff. The projects align with 2 different impact areas of focus: Health Inequalities Paediatric Care and Innovation & Health Technologies All projects approved as part of the Q3 Equipment to Deliver Clinical Excellence Funding Call will be completed by 31st April 2027 Approved Applications: Equipment Using fibroscanning to assess liver health in Psoriatic arthritis and Psoriasis Implementing a bespoke pathway for patients using a Fibroscan machine. Awarded: £94,500.00CSU: Chapel Allerton Hospital Equipment to support the establishment of a Paediatric Fibreoptic endoscopic evaluation of swallowing (FEES) service within Leeds Children's Hospital Purchasing Fibreoptic endoscopic evaluation of swallowing (FEES) scanner system, training and cleaning materials. Awarded: £66,451.99CSU: Leeds Children’s Hospital Specialty Patient Monitoring Equipment Funding for 6 Speciality Patient monitors across 2 wards. Awarded: £43,301.21CSU: Leeds Children’s Hospital Humphrey Visual Field Analyser for Wharfedale Hospital Purchasing a Humphrey Visual Field Analyser to provide more streamline service for ophthalmology patients. Awarded: £31,300.00CSU: Head & Neck Advancing Paediatric Nutrition: Indirect Calorimetry (Q-NRG®) at Leeds Children's Hospital Funding to acquire and implement the Q-NRG® indirect calorimeter Awarded: £22,203.50 CSU: Leeds Children’s Hospital Sudoscan for point of care diagnosis of peripheral neuropathies in Pain management clinic. Purchasing Sudoscan equipment, for use in pain management clinic. Awarded: £20,030.00CSU: Neurosciences Developing a New Early Walking Aid for Patients with Trans-Femoral Limb Loss Project to help develop a replacement for Femurett prosthetic. Awarded: £15,061.12CSU: Adult Therapies Bioelectrical impedance (BIA) analysis in children with Cystic Fibrosis: assessing nutritional status, pulmonary function and clinical outcomes. Purchasing Bioelectrical impedance analysis equipment for patients with Cystic Fibrosis.
